You moved to Normandy for a very specific reason. What attracted you to this region?
The main reason for our move was the exceptionally good air quality in this region. We were looking for a healthier, more natural living environment for our family. We eventually found our home here: close to the sea, but at the same time completely surrounded by extensive forests. It is the ideal place to live closer to nature.
That nature is also immediately reflected on your own property. How have you designed the space around the house?
We have the space and freedom to take a rural approach. In our spacious garden, our animals—the sheep, chickens, and horses—especially find their own way. In addition, a substantial part is set up as a vegetable garden. To be able to store its produce sustainably, we purchased the Groundfridge. It now mainly serves as a natural, cool storage space for everything the vegetable garden provides us.
The cellar was recently installed. How do you like its positioning relative to the main building?
The Groundfridge is deliberately positioned right next to the main building, close to the kitchen. Because the placement only took place very recently, the immediate surroundings are still very much under development. The cellar is there now, but the next step is to create a permanent path that physically connects the kitchen and the Groundfridge. This way, walking between the pantry and the stove will soon become a fixed and comfortable part of our daily routine.
